There are still 1.5 days left to do the frozen food deal at Giant. Check the current ad, it's buy $25, get $10. Ad lists items participating.

First, I did have a local friend say that she ran into a glitch this morning and her catalina only printed for $5, not $10. Not sure what happened, but the CS counter fixed it for her.

But here's what you can do, hopefully you have enough decent coupons & some freezer space:

1st transaction: $25 worth, use sale prices, minus coupons, pay & get $10 back

2nd, 3rd & 4th transaction-use the $10 catalina to help pay for whatever your balance is after coupons. This catalina will roll.

*But* (and here's the part where I guess I wasn't paying attention)-once you spend $100 cumulatively on frozen foods, you will get a $25 catalina.

Assuming you've kept your transactions as close to the $25 mark as you can, you've spent $100.
Got back four $10 catalinas, plus one $25 catalina, for a total of $65 off $100. And that's if you don't use any mfr coupons!

I know I posted the diaper deal earlier in the week, but there are two other deals to mention.

First, Right Guard stuff is bogo, and there was a bogo coupon in last Sunday's paper. The wags ad even says "coupons in Sunday's paper" right next to the sale, so you should be able to use it. Free!

Excedrin-it's buy $20, get $10. The coupons that are out for this are not that great, $1-$2.50, depending on which paper you got:
$2.50/1 Excedrin PM product, 20 ct or larger - 12-05-10 SS if included
$1/1 Excedrin product, 20 ct or larger - 12-05-10 SS
75c/1 Excedrin Product, any 20 ct or larger - 02-27-11 SS

I had $15 to spend at Kmart that expires this Saturday.

There is an SC Johnson catalina, get $5 when you spend $15, and after looking at the selection of items I decided that I really could use some of them. My stockpile is overflowing with cleaning products, but I never seem to get enough Windex and that was included. Plus, I had the $1.50 off two Glade coupons and I like the oil burning thingies, and with three dogs can never have enough candles.

Most of the cleaning products are priced 2 for $5. I'd love to give you a rundown of what everything cost, but Baby B shredded my sales flyer. My catalinas were a $5 one and a $10 one, and each one stated that only "one per transaction" so I had to break it up.

First:

Paid with $10 catalina and coupons, plus $0.50 cash
Got $5 back

Second:

paid with $5 catalina and $1

The $5 Glade/SC Johnson catalina was a regular cat--not the ones that Kmart often gives, where you can't use it right away but have to come back the next week. So I figured rather than have to come back next week, just use it.

Did well at Acme today! 3/15

I'm usually not a huge advocate of buying store brand or generic items. I can usually do much better on price with coupons and stacking deals, and, I'm kind of a snob when it comes to some things. I really feel that most generic items are a bit inferior in quality and/or taste than name brand items.

But occasionally I do find a store-brand-something that I really like, and I will buy generic items for staples like canned beans, flour, chicken broth, stuff like that. If it's cheaper and I need it.

And, this week Acme certainly made their store brand items much more interesting with the 15% off coupons that are out. If there are deals to be stacked, I definitely have to check it out!

First, I went to the Pike Creek store because I also wanted to hit Kmart and I wanted to return my $10 cheese and that is where I got it. Cheese returned, no hassles! And, at the courtesy counter there, they have the 15% off coupons--sheets of four of them! There for the taking! So if you missed out on the printable when I posted it (no longer available) you can still score some of the 15% off coupons. Ask at your local store. (Locals, if you know me, contact me, I have some that you could get from me.)

Before I left the house, of course I loaded my Acme card with my e-savings (center of page/personalized savings).

Here are some of the Acme brand items that were on my card, also on sale, and I used the 15% off coupon.

Acme brand shake & bake-on sale for $1; e-savings $0.50 per box! Plus another 15% off. Not something I'd normally buy, but for around $0.40, I'll try a few boxes and me & the boys can eat it the nights hubby works late.

Acme Bread & Butter pickles-$2.59 a jar, $1.75 off each jar with e-savings, plus 15%; a MUCH better price than the $4 Vlasics, definitely worth a try.

Acme brand sandwich bags, 150ct-on sale 3 for 5 or $1.67 each; I got $0.75 off each with e-savings, plus the 15%; the highest price I will pay for these is about a penny per bag, so this falls well under it.

That's all I used from my e-savings, even though I had more items. The other just wasn't a good enough price or I didn't want the items. I was bummed because I got $2 off ABSORBENT paper towels, but they are $8.99. It's the AWESOME ones that are $4.99. Still $4.99 is a decent price minus 15% for paper towels, if they work ok. If it was the others that were $4.99, then minus $2 and 15%--that would have been great! Which is why I was bummed it didn't work that way.

Other items that were on sale, just got the 15%, no e-savings:

Java Delight coffee-4.99 (we really like this, it's still a 12 oz bag while others have downsized to 10 or 11 oz; I just refuse to pay 9.49 for a 10 oz bag of Starbucks. That would be $60 a month for my husband & I to drink coffee! Seriously!?!)

Acme chicken broth-$0.50 can (smaller can)

Big cans of black beans-1.09

Apple juice-$2; this is actually $0.25 higher than the Dollar General price for Mott's; but at $1.70 with the 15% off, I got a few and it will save me a trip to DG.

I also checked out the Acme brand waffles, since I got $0.70 off on my e-savings. With the $0.70 off, they'd be about a buck per box, then take another 15%. I am STILL swimming in Eggos from last summer's deal, and I just can't justify spending even $0.85 on a box of waffles. I was disappointed that the frozen pancakes were significantly higher in price (also included in e-savings) as I would have gotten some of those.

Live in & around Kennett Square?

On hotcouponworld, it's an idea that we've tossed around a couple of times--a weekly coupon swap. But I think it's finally going to happen. Right now we're looking at early Saturday mornings--so parents can still get to kids' activities & sports. Like maybe 7:30 or 8, meet till 8:45 or as long/short as people want to stay.

What we'd do--
Bring any extra coupons that you don't want, so that maybe others can use them. Hopefully gain some coupons for your own binder that you've been looking for.

And-
We'd do a rundown of deals at each store-CVS, Walgreen's, Rite Aid, Acme, Giant & Superfresh. Highlight the bargains you plan to get to share, and learn about some deals you may have overlooked in the ad.

Right now, I think 3/26 would be a good day to start--at the McDonald's in Kennett? Does that work for everyone?

I'm off to run a few errands. I have $19 to spend in catalinas at Kmart, so headed there first. I didn't get an ad this week and the one online is so small I can barely read it. Will be back later with what I find.

Both Acme & Superfresh told me yesterday that they didn't have next week's ads yet, which is why I didn't post them.

Last week, I did my weekly trip at the Pike Creek Acme. I bought this Swiss cheese, it was $10 a lb. And it's awful. Not only does it have a funky taste, but there is no way, and I mean no way, to separate the slices. It's like it's a spreadable cheese rather than lunchmeat cheese. So since I have to go to Kmart anyway, I'm going to return it. I rarely return food, less than once a year. I feel weird doing it. But today is garbage day, and I just couldn't bring myself to toss that $10 into the trash. Which reminds me, I haven't done a garbage day post in a while, will do one later.

I'm growing mildly impatient that my new blog/site isn't up & running yet, more on that later.

I also found $2 in RRs for Walgreen's that expire tomorrow, so I'm stopping there too.

I realize that this post is basically filled with a whole lotta nothing, but I'll post whatever I find after lunch while B naps.

I'm not a couponer that whines about empty shelves, but it is disappointing. Especially when I was trying to walk a new couponer through the deals. Last evening I posted several transactions I had planned. We went to the Landenberg/Newark Road store. They are completely out of all things Crest/Glide. No toothpaste, no mouthwash or dental floss. We were able to get the Herbal Essences--picked over but still a decent selection. But my plan was to then roll those Extra Care Bucks (ECBs) into Crest, then Crest again, then Irish Spring. They're out of the Irish Spring too!

The cashier deducted the full $3.50 max amt allowed from the 'free' Herbal Essences coupon, even though it was only priced at $2.99. Nice little bonus. So for $1.47, she got 2 HE products and 3 Gain detergents, plus has $2 ECBs to roll. I also gave her the Crest/Glide coupons in case she wishes to return. I know they get trucks on Tuesdays.

Next week's ad has Allegra for $6.99 with $6.99 back in ECBs. Go to smartsource.com for a $2 printable coupon or check your 3/6 Smartsource inserts. Make sure you choose the $2 coupon, not the $4 one--wrong size package.

I did ok. Paid $0.42 for a big box of 84 Pampers plus two tubs of CVS brand wipes. Great deal, huh? Unfortunately it cost me $23 in ECBs and a $2 Pampers coupon, got $10 ECBs back. So I'll be looking for ECB moneymakers like the Allegra to build back up. I'm down to $10! I'm seriously considering going back this week for the Tena, just to gain $2.50, ha ha.

Great Clips-$6.99 haircuts

A friend told me that she saw a sign outside the Great Clips on Route 1, advertising $6.99 haircuts. For our older son, we have our own clippers and just buzz him clean every few weeks. But the little guy--I'm just not ready to part with his baby locks and buzz him just yet. He still gets regular haircuts, so I'll definitely take advantage of this deal. I pay almost twice that at Cost Cutters in Avondale, just for a haircut for a 1 year old!

very cheap diapers at Walgreen's this week

Good thing the grocery stores are slow this week, because the pharmacies have enough deals this week to keep us hopping.

At Walgreen's, the store brand diapers are bogo at 8.99. There is also a $2 coupon in the Walgreen's Infant Care booklet. Ask at your store if you don't see it out. The coupon will automatically deduct $2 from each pack when scanned. Final price ends up being about $5 for two packs of diapers.

It's been my experience that Walgreen's diapers, well, all store brand diapers really, run a bit small. My son is in a size 4 right now if it's Pampers or Huggies, but if I was getting these I would get 5s.

Some easy CVS transactions for beginners, March 13-19

I had a friend contact me and wanted some guidance with getting started in couponing. No problem! In addition to helping her learn the policies at whatever grocery store she goes to, I always recommend that couponers pick at least one pharmacy-CVS, Walgreen's or Rite Aid, and learn how to play their game.

I've been doing the CVS and Walgreen's thing for years. If I had more room in my brain, I'd love to add Rite Aid and ditch probably Walgreen's, I just haven't had the time. Unless Rite Aid is having a no-brainer easy peasy deal, I stick with what I know.

So I was looking over the CVS ad to help her get started. It's actually a pretty good week there, especially if you got the Procter & Gamble home mailers. When I post those links to get them, sign up! I always end up using many of them. No, but there are some deals I want to get to this week. Today is my little guy's second birthday so it will be a family day, no need to run around doing coupon deals. Plus, with the time change, we all ended up sleeping a bit later than usual.

But, I have some CVS extra bucks that expire this week and there are some deals I want to get to.

CVS-There's a $10 back when you spend $25 on baby products and Pampers are included. Will do that with the CVS brand wipes I think. I'm pretty sure I have enough ECBs to cover it, but it will take me a while to build them back up again.

Also, several weeks (months?) ago, there was a link on Facebook to get a coupon for free Herbal Essences. When it came in the mail, it was a coupon for a free product plus $1 off another one. See deal on back page of flyer--if you have those coupons, two bottles for free!

There's also another Crest deal, using the recent $1 coupons, two more free Crest products. (back page of flyer)

I may also do the Irish Spring, since it's so cheap. And maybe the P&G deal on the front page, but I don't think I have enough ECBs to make it anywhere close to free. I could use some batteries, my bin is running low.

Still working out the bugs of the new site, but for the most part it is up & running. Will have a few more posts here though. Here's my 5 minute walk through of this week's Smartsource. Except for the Viva coupons, a pretty dull week.

Zyrtec-we don't use this but they're nice high value coupons if you do use it. Keep an eye out at Walgreen's & CVS for deals on this, to stack with the coupon.

Woolite-we don't have any carpet in our entire home, won't use this one!

Pillsbury coupons-same old same old; same coupons and same values as usual; I'll hang on to them in case of a catalina deal or freebie at Acme or Superfresh, but won't clip them.

Yoplait Greek yogurt-will clip these to keep in binder; it's a new product and new products often go on special when they are introduced;

Chex mix-boring coupons, same old same old again; but it will probably go on sale for $1 at Acme or SF, so doubling the coupon would make it $0.50 bag

SO Delicious-call me old school, but I'm just going to stick with dairy milk

Hidden Valley-$1 off ones are always good; it also appears to be a newer product so it may be on special; coupon does say "any" so hopefully we can find smaller bottles for $1

more clarification on Giant & Weis catalinas

One more post--

I contacted the mod on hcw who had told me Giant deals worked on shelf price, just to make sure. She profusely apologized and said she often gets Giant and Weis mixed up in her head.

So the bad news is that Giant catalina deals will only work on sale prices. The only one I had done there in ages was the Kellogg's one last summer, and that was a unit deal, not $$ amount.

But the good news for Weis shoppers is, she said that it's Weis that does work off of shelf prices.

This is also why I don't add more stores to my shopping repetoire--learning the policies of just a few is challenging enough.

BIG correction to Giant frozen food catalina

The other day I posted about the new Giant ad that starts tomorrow, including the 10/25 frozen food catalina. Someone just told me on hcw that these deals do NOT work on shelf prices, it is based off of the sale price. My apologies for posting otherwise, but I did have someone tell me that it worked on shelf prices like Acme & Superfresh.

The catalina still should roll, so once you get one, you can use it to purchase your next $25 worth and so on, but obviously it will change things.

See, this is why I don't shop at Giant. In addition to not really caring for their meats, their coupon policies are too strict for me.

Prior to holding the coupon class that I held last month, I emailed the Giant moderator on hotcouponworld. She said that catalina deals at Giant work on shelf prices, not sale prices. If that is true, there are some possible freebies next week.

Isn't the shelf price for Breyers about $6.29? That's what it is at Acme. Therefore four of them would take you to $25, but only cost $10, get $10 back!

That is what I would do to get started, if you don't have any coupons. Then just roll that $10 catalina until you run out of room in your freezer! There are lots of higher value coupons to go with this deal, so get to your spending threshold using shelf prices, then pay sale price minus coupons.

Other things to mention:

A&H laundry detergent is bogo, I posted a $1.25 printable recently.

GM cereals are 3 for $5, good price, then use coupons

Hatfield bacon is bogo, use two coupons; this is our favorite bacon;

Hmmm, so THIS showed up in my email today. It's a printable for 15% off my purchase of 'select' Acme family of brands, through 3/31. The email invited me to share it with friends, so I am. What I don't understand is the word 'select.'

It mentions it again in the fine print of the coupon, but I don't know where we can learn exactly what is considered select or not.

If we combine it with sales & e-savings, going to make for some pretty cheap stuff!

update on free/cheap Pediacare at Walgreen's

First, go to the coupons dot com bar at the top of the blog. Open it, scroll through till you find the $2 Pedia Care coupon. You can print two per computer, I think it's under 'health care' if you want to use the category bars on the left to quicken your search.

Go to Walgreen's, the instore ad has a store coupon for $5 off of Pedia Care. Note: the Happy Harry's ad does NOT have this coupon. If you have the ad at home, you can take the coupon to HH and they will honor it, but they do not have it.

The infant Pedia Care is $6.49, so a $0.51 overage after stacking the coupons. Hand over the mfr coupons first. The childrens Pedia Care is $7.49, so that will actually cost you $0.49 after both coupons, but still a great deal. When I purchased my two (can't get laptop to print, grrr!) the register spit out another catalina for $1.50 off any Pedia Care, so if you get that catalina, your next one will be free if it's infant, will cost $0.99 if you get childrens.

I much prefer ibuprofen to acetominophen for my boys, it just seems to work better for them. But I think for mild teething pain this will be fine. For higher fevers, I definitely would use advil/ibuprofen instead.

Some couponers on hotcouponworld are reporting that their Kmart is having superdoubles. And, it says limit 10--which is better than the usual 5, and no mention of a $25 minimum. I have to pick up meds at the vet tomorrow anyway, so that will take me practically to Pike Creek, so I may check it out.

Yes, you read that correctly, Ulta! I was just gathering up the papers for tomorrow's garbage and came across the Ulta ad.

First, there's a $3.50 off $10 coupon on the front cover, plus I know I posted the same as a printable link last week. Says good on regular, sale or clearance prices. Makes no mention of NOT being able to use it with mfr coupons, so I don't see why you couldn't stack. Yes, Ulta does take mfr coupons.

Then, on inside, several brands are buy one, get one 50% off. Again, I don't see why we couldn't use a coupon on each item, especially since it's not free, only 50% off the second item. And, so many of these brands just had coupons in yesterday's inserts, I think it's a big push on these products.

$1 off 2 tropicana-yay! finally! an orange juice coupon and I really try to stay brand loyal to this, it's our favorite. But today it was $4.29, yes 4.29 a carton at Superfresh! Watch for it to go on sale two for 6, hopefully, and stock up, usually has long exp dates.

Natures Bounty-always bogo sales on this everywhere-Walgreen's, CVS, Kmart, Acme--use a coupon on each item

Garnier-I just posted some of the items that are on sale at DG. This frequently comes on deals at both CVS and Walgreen's, and I like their stuff. These coupons are keepers.

Pedigree-would use these at Kmart or DG

Maybelline-eh, I think most of the makeup clearance is over until July. Look for ECB deals at CVS.

L'oreal/Target coupon-can be stacked with other L'oreal coupons, which are later in flyer.
Pure Protein-won't use these.

Frozen food coupons in middle-we don't eat most of that. The Birds Eye-I just love love love the frozen brown rice. It is so easy to make, just the right amount, love it!

Dove-there's a chocolate deal, I'm pretty sure it includes Dove, at CVS this week. Look at the exp date! Use it after Easter on clearance candy if you get what you need prior to Easter.

L'oreal-look for deals at CVS or Walgreen's, or stack with Target coupon.

Jimmy Dean-not something I would really eat, but it's a high value coupon, and yes, I would try the item if it was free. So I'll clip it & hang on to it.

Keebler-funny, the Acme price they show does not reflect the coupons being doubled, and they will. I'm always game for cheap cookies.

First, go to toolbar at top of page and print the $3 off 2 printable. Go to Walgreen's, look in monthly booklet for $5 coupon. This makes the Pedia Care free, possibly with some overage so find a filler.

Pedia Care is just acetaminophen, or an alternative to Tylenol.

Revlon nail polish at CVS

The only hot deal at CVS this week is the nail polish (imo). There is other cheap stuff to be had, but the nail polish can be free.

It's 3.99, get $3 Extra Care Bucks back. Use the $1 off one coupon from 3/6 inserts. Then, use the $3 ECBs to pay for next one. Couponers are reporting that they have purchased as many as five and their receipts are still not saying "offer limit reached." Keep an eye on your receipt though, in case that changes. Wouldn't want anyone to lose their ECBs over it.

The Almay cosmetics offer (get $4 when you spend $10) may be a good deal in conjunction with the $2 coupons that came out yesterday.

As always, scan your card under the magic coupon card scanner when you enter the store.

The news is blanketed with stories of all of the foreclosed properties out there. Although it is true that many homes are "upside down", unless you are having trouble paying your mortgage, there is no reason to panic. Real Estate, like any market, is cyclical. There is a trough and a crest, if you are financially able to ride out the market, you will be back on top. At that time, you should recognize the top and take advantage and sell. Many people are not willing to part with their home even when the market would benefit them to do so.

Well, what do you do now if you are having trouble paying the mortgage? Do not go to one of those "loan modification" companies, they are most likely a scam. There are options however. If you have at least 20% equity (at the value stated on your note) you can refinance and take advantage of the rates and lower your monthly payments.
If you are looking to unload the property, your options are either a short sale (where you negotiate with your lender on a sale price that is less than what you owe on the note).

You can also create a "cash for keys" deal with your lender where you simply give up ownership and the bank takes your property in exchange for writing off your note. This may have tax consequences because of the forgiveness of a debt.

Finally, you can stop paying on your loan and the bank will ultimately foreclose. This is an option for those who have no where else to go and need the extra time (usually 9 months) to save money so they can relocate. However, this is the most damaging to your credit.

My advise is to consult an attorney to review your options prior to taking any drastic measures such as stopping payments.

If you haven't hit CVS yet this week, I would and look for the clearance Crest. Scan it under the scanner, see if it scans at $2.09, that's what it was for me. Use the $1 coupons from last Sunday, pay $1.09 get $3.29 each back. Limit 2 and it ends today.

On my Superfresh e-savings, the Cottonelle wipes (all Kimberly Clark stuff, actually) is on there. Combine with paper coupons for add'l savings, and there is a catalina when you buy the wet wipes.

Dollar General has a $5 off $20 printable for home stuff.

If you're at the mall, today's Groupon is for DQ/Orange Julius at the Christiana Mall. I didn't even know Orange Julius was still around.

And if you haven't done the Motrin deal at Walgreen's yet, today is the last day.

Staples ad, March 6-11

Here is the link to the Staples ad for next week. One of my friends and blog followers is the moderator for the Staples board on hcw, maybe she'll jump in with some comments. But I know she's in the process of moving.

I don't understand the ad, but if it works the way I'd like it to work, could mean some very good deals.

There are various items, like Avery labels, notebooks--on sale for buy 3 get one and so on, early in the ad. Then, near the back of the ad, there are coupons for 50% off those items. I wonder if we can stack the store coupon with the sale?

They also have four items free after Staples rebates. The rebate will come in the form of a check, but you can only use it at Staples. It's pens, paper clips, photo paper and envelopes. I could use envelopes! So what I'll do is get those items, submit the rebates. When I get my rebate, use that for ink.

They're also offering 20% back in rewards when you buy HP ink, 10% for all other brands. And you can get $2 back for each ink cartridge you bring them. Oh, those were the days......I used to work at a school and I would get used ink cartridges all the time, and that was when Staples paid $3 each instead of $2. I haven't paid for ink in years! But my stash is dwindling, so time to look for deals.

I did a search on printable Crayola coupons (to go with sales) and found nothing. I did find a $1 printable for 3M sticky notes.

And if that's a full ream of paper for $1, that's an awesome price! My free supply from Rubinstein's is dwindling as well.

New Earth's Best Program & Coupons

At the coupon class on Saturday, some of you had asked about organics & baby stuff. I will try to include that stuff at least weekly. This offer from Earth's Best came in my email today. It's called Share & Save, and basically it's another one of these referral type deals (that is not my referral link though). You sign up, get some friends to sign up via your link, then when you get a number of friends to sign up, you get more savings. Facebook makes it easy to post stuff like that, and I always figure, if it's something you want to sign up for, why not go through a friend's link. There's also a printable link in there for $1 off 5 baby food jars, which is good. Usually it's $1 off 10 or 12. Print two per computer!

The Borders stores are having a free reading time in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday. It's this Saturday, 2 pm. Their advertising says best for ages 6-10. Double check with your local store. We went to the Elmo thing last weekend and it was fun. It included a story (which my kids interrupted multiple times), a craft and a snack.

First Friday events-lots of little small towns across America do "First Friday" events. Kennett Square is doing a Mardi Gras theme. I saw that Bethlehem is doing a First Friday too; if you go, make sure you stop in at Shuze--they're having a sale!

Locals-go see the Kennett Symphony, for FREE! This weekend only. I took my 4-year-old to the free concert at Christmas time & he loved it.

Good because you can use them anywhere, bad because they can't be stacked with mfr coupons, since they are not store coupons. Anyway, just thought I'd let everyone know, because you can't tell until you print them, but that's what I read.

I know that lots of people are just gaga over Swagbucks. I'm not one of them. I had major amounts of trouble with it. First, the search engine toolbar kept randomly disappearing and reappearing from my computer. Then, we got a virus and it came from Swagbucks (per my husband the IT guy). So no more Swagbucks for us.

Bing has just introduced a new rewards program for using them as a search engine, and this is my hubby's search engine of choice anyway. I'm definitely signing up, though I will probably forget to use it, much like I did with Swagbucks. But hey, free to sign up and it would be cool to earn amazon cards to add to my diaper stockpile.

Procter & Gamble deal coming to Acme

I got my ad with the sales that start Friday. It is a get $5 when you spend $20 on Procter & Gamble products and it looks like pretty much everything is listed. Remember, this will work on shelf prices and knockdown prices, then pay sale/knockdown price, minus any coupons to get to your final total.

This will go very nicely with the new P&G insert coupons that just came out on Sunday. Plus, just yesterday, I received my Home Made Simple home mailer coupon booklets. Always good to sign up for those when I post the links, and I'm positive I posted that one! Many of the coupons are higher values than what they put in the paper.

Because Acme is part of the larger Supervalu company, they often activate these catalinas early, but try at your own risk. If anyone is positive that it's working today, please report back.

My electric bill was lower!

Earlier in the year, I did THIS POST about how we were switching electric providers. I have now received my first electric bill, where the entire month was with our new provider and not PECO. And, it was lower! About 10-15% lower than usual. I don't think it was entirely the new provider, as we did have some exceptionally warm weather. Hopefully this trend will continue and it's not just a low teaser rate to get me to join the new provider. But, hey, I'll take the extra money while I can.

Prom Dress/Occasion dress consignment sale

I've mentioned before that I work at the Growing Tree consignment shop. We have begun our second annual consignment sale of prom and special occasion dresses. And, we've just learned that tomorrow we are going to be featured on the NBC 10 segment hosted by Tracy Davidson called "Survive & Thrive." Our kickoff event to the sale is this Saturday from 10-4.

With the publicity from NBC 10, we expect lots of shoppers looking for deals on gently used dresses. Although we are accepting them on consignment until April 15, I recommend if you're bringing one in, to get it to us by Friday. No appointment is necessary to bring in dresses.

We are open 9:30-5. Appointments are requested if you want to bring in spring/summer apparel. We do a 50/50 split on the purchase price of items, and for prom dresses, we donate 20% of our proceeds to after-prom activities.

So bring us your dresses! Stop in, we're on West State, on the same block as Half Moon and Talulah's.

Dollar General-in their current ad, it says "Win Pet Food for a year, and a $1000 Visa Gift Card." It says to visit your store for details or the website. I couldn't find anything on the website, will check the pet dept next time I'm in. I'm not sure that DG sells any brands that I feed my dogs, but I sure would enjoy a $1000 gift card!

Picture People is having a "Wags to Riches" contest. Don't forget-before you go, print the $18 offer coupon up top on the coupons.com banner. It's a great deal for $18 and you could win if you go for pet portraits.

I went to CVS today for some freebies. I bought two Crest toothpaste-sensitive shield and enamel shield. One rang up at $2.09, but still gave back $3.29 in Extra Bucks. Even better with the $1 coupons, a $2.20 moneymaker! Landenberg store is out of the toothbrushes. And, I looked closer at the ad to find that Pampers are not in the P&G deal, bummer.

Walgreen's-it's being reported that the Tylenol Precise is ringing up at $3. So if you have the $6 off 2 items coupon from 1/9 inserts--get one Precise and one Motrin PM, pay with coupon, get $3 RRs back. Avondale/Penn Green Road store is out of both!

Genuardi's-a friend told me that starting tomorrow, the Ore Ida will go down to $2.49 instead of $2.99, so an even better deal for the frozen food thing I've posted. I meant to get there today & didn't.

I'll do the redplum sometime this week, but a few readers told me that they really like it when I post this. Reverse matchups is, instead of posting a store's sale and then where to find the coupons, it's looking at the coupon inserts & listing some possibilities on where to use that coupon.

Procter & Gamble inserts--Unfortunately, P&G is getting stricter and stricter each time they put out an insert. Most say "no trial sizes" and the bogo coupons are now "equal or lesser value" which means we can no longer buy a $0.99 something to get the free $5 something. Oh well, we'll find a way to make it work.

Walmart:
Interestingly, if you look at this week's Walmart ad (mine was included in Inqy), they have formatted their entire ad to reflect how much you will pay after using a P&G coupon. Here are some things they didn't put in the ad.
You can often find the Oral B dental floss for around $0.97. Free after $1 coupon. Sometimes you can find $1 crest there too. There are also Olay bars, not trial size, for $0.97 that will be free after the $1 coupon.

Target:
They have some P&G offers this week, specifically a $5 gift card when you buy 2 listed items. Nothing even close to free, but the Pantene at $5.99 would be cheap if you use it, after coupons and gift card. For which few coupons do not specify 'not on trial size,' you can match them up to the travel sizes for some freebies.

CVS:
CVS has a $10 back when you spend $30 on P&G items. They also are formatting their circular to reflect the after coupon prices. Just remember, it works on sale prices, but you can hit the $30 with sale prices, then take off with coupons and pay that amount and it will still qualify. The bogo coupons that qualify are probably going to be your best bets for maximum savings.

You also want to use your Crest coupons and Oral B coupons there, for some freebies outside of the $10/$30 deal.

Superfresh:
I'm going to use my Tide coupons at Superfresh, for as long as the $3 e-savings keeps showing up on my card. I can only get one each time I go in there, per the e-savings policy, but I go in there weekly, so no big deal. I'll take a free Tide each week for as long as you want to give them to me!

Genuardi's (Safeway):
They have some store coupons this week for things like Duracell. And they have some P&G items on sale for $9.99 when you buy two--like Tide. So $7 for a big bottle of Tide is a good deal. Don't forget to load your e-savings! There may be additional savings.

And maybe Acme will offer a P&G deal soon, they haven't had one in a while.

Smartsource

$0.75 off Excedrin 20 ct-hang on to that one; it will double at the supermarkets for very cheap Excedrin, probably around $0.50. Or CVS or Walgreen's will do a deal on it, possibly free or better.

Honey Bunches of Oats w/raisins-ick, I wouldn't eat that, I loathe raisins. But it will probably be on sale for $1.50 or $2 at the various supermarkets.

Hershey's-as Easter gets closer, both CVS and Walgreen's will offer deals on these items. So will Kmart.

Mentos-might be free at Dollar General

Biotrue-CVS offers freebie deals on this occasionally.

Purina Pro Plan-that's a high value coupon, so I'm thinking it's going to mean cheap dog treats, probably at Kmart or Target. (I avoid Walmart whenever possible)

Huggies-I'm using mine at Walgreen's this week. Going to roll my Motrin Register Rewards into Huggies Register Rewards and score free diapers!

Tilapia-won't use that one

Minute Rice-meh, I'll clip it, look for a sale. It will double at all our local grocers.

Ensure, etc.-won't use those. Will keep them in my coupon drawer in case of possible moneymaker deal at drug stores.

$0.55 off zone-these are always $1 at Acme, so free. They taste like cardboard and my hubby refuses to eat them. I keep them in my purse for when my sugar drops.

Similac-those are good, high value coupons. If you can't use them, give them to someone who can. You CAN use a coupon AND a formula check on one item.

More Huggies coupons, yay!

Danimals/Danonino-those danonino cups are pitifully small, like 2 oz each. My kids like the danimals and they often go on sale for $2 at the local grocers. $1 is the max I'll pay for these items.

Activia-meh, maybe I'll try it, if it's on sale and I need yogurt and I can't find anything cheaper than it. Other than that, I won't use it.

Tostitos-it will double to $1.10 for us locals; I try to stay brand loyal to Herr's though.

Glade-an example of what I'll keep but won't clip till I read about a deal. This stuff is often free at Target and CVS though, so hang on to them. I have three dogs, so always looking for smelly things for my home!

Listerine-save for CVS or Walgreen's.

Chinet & Pepp Farm-both of those coupons will double to $1.10 for us locals, and both contain my favorite word-"ANY." I will look for the smallest count, lowest price Chinet, hopefully very cheap or free.

Neutrogena-save for CVS or Walgreen's

Barber foods-won't use it; it is frozen foods month though, so it will be on sale lots of places

$1 Pollyo-my kids like string cheese, I'll clip it & look for a Kraft deal

$2 coffee-I'm no longer brand loyal to coffee, so I will clip & buy it if it's the cheapest among the half-dozen or so brands that I use.

Nature Made-it's bogo everywhere this week, CVS, Kmart--use a coupon on each item! And Kmart is doing superdoubles.

Accucheck-sounds crazy, but keep it. Could possibly be big moneymaker at a drug store. I just then donate them.

Pert-won't clip or use; it used to be free all the time with the 'old Kmart superdoubles' but not anymore

Colgate-I won't even clip. They won't double and I prefer Crest which is always free all over the place. It would make for some small moneymaker deals at the drugstores though, when they are giving back the same amount that Colgate costs, which they do all the time.

Physician's Formula-use for CVS deal this week, see circular. Or take to Rite Aid and use on the ones that have the "try me free" peelie rebate attached.

$1 off 2 detergents- use at Acme this week, combine it with their "Buy One, get 2!! free" that they have on Dynamo.

Claritin/Zegerid-I don't use, but there are always deals on this at the drug stores.

Best life-I only use real butter, won't clip or save this. I don't pay attention to non-butter deals, sorry.

Mccain-I liked this when I tried it, will clip.

It looks like the superdoubles are good for any grocery or health/beauty item. Check your local store ad for details. The ad inside of smartsource leads you to believe it's only P&G. $25 minimum purchase, limit 5 coupons doubled, after that, face value.

Nature Made is bogo, and you can use a coupon on each item. $1 coupons in 1/30 inserts. $1 printable; print 2 and get $4 off whatever two bottles you purchase.

Maybelline and L'oreal is bog50%, use a coupon on each item. Cover Girl is too, and also a part of the $10/$35 catalina P&G deal. Coupons in today's paper.

I still think I'll skip Kmart this go-around, but if there's stuff you need that totals $25, definitely some cheap stuff to be had. Just remember, hand the cashier the five coupons that you want doubled first, before any other coupons. Then hand over your others.

Use this printable for $0.85 off one box of Chex. If you subscribe to the GM program Pssst, in the future you'll receive coupons like this in the mail. I got ten of them.
So, four boxes of Chex=$10.
Minus four of the $0.85 coupons doubled, is minus $6.80, final total $3.20.
I think $3.20 is good for four boxes of cereal and a gallon of milk, since a gallon of milk is about $3.50 anyway. And my family uses five gallons of milk a week!

I took the last two Baby Magic that they had. I asked & was told they are getting a truck on Tuesday. This was the Avondale/Penn Green Road location, I didn't try Kennett Square. Plenty of Motrin for that deal, but only the Motrin PM works for it. I didn't try anything else.

I didn't want to have a $0 balance after coupons or Register Rewards, so I hunted for small fillers. For new folks-a filler is a small item, preferably only a dime or a quarter, that you use so that either you don't have a $0 balance, or to keep up with Walgreen's 'one mfr coupon per item' policy.

I found:
little things of spray on sunscreen for $0.65 (back of store, in clearance dept)
little purse-sized hairbrushes with a 5-pack of elastics for $0.32 (near hair accessories)
Carmex lip balm for $0.45 (in clearance dept)

I hope your store has the same good fillers, much better than a candy bar.

Some shoppers have been reporting in to hotcouponworld that they've been having some coupon trouble quite recently at Dollar General. Apparently, in some regions, they are implementing the policy that they will no longer accept any coupons if it makes the item free.

In other words, no more--
free Olay body wash with the $2 coupons
free Gain with the $3 coupons
free dental floss and toothbrushes with the $1 coupons

and so on.........

So far it appears to only be happening in the midwest, but who knows. Just don't be totally surprised, or have a plan B, if you get shot down. Hmph, how annoying. The store gets reimbursed from the manufacturers, so I don't understand what the big deal is.

In any event, I will do the DG coupon matchups later.

For my newcomers from my class this morning, here is a brief rundown of the Walgreen's rules--it gets complicated very quickly, so if you have any questions, please contact me here or thru the Facebook page. The following items are FREE after Register Rewards (RRs). That is, they are giving back the same amount in RRs that you pay for the item. Add in the coupons that are out there for these items, and you'll pay less than what you'll get back. Kudos to the couponers at hcw for compiling the info.

Then, at CVS, there are items giving back the same amount in Extra Care Bucks (ECBs) that you spend on the item. For more details and discussion, look at the thread on hcw.

Physician's Formula is also a good deal, get $7 when you spend $10. Coupons last week, plus look for "try me free" rebate peelies on the items. If you can't find them, go to the Rite Aid in Kennett Square, I know they have them on their products.
Softsoap body was is giving back $2 when you buy the $2.99 body wash.

There's also a $10 back when you spend $30 on select Procter & Gamble products. Since Pampers are included, I plan on blowing whatever ECBs I have built up on the Pampers, then I'll be back down to $10 worth again.

Then, I'll head over to Genuardi's and see if I can double dip on the frozen food deal. If I can get six bags of Ore Ida for a buck, yipppee! That will last me a year.

I've gotten the 'warning catalina' for them at Acme, and I've seen other bloggers post them for other stores like A&P and ShopRite, so I feel comfortable saying that these most likely are at all stores that do catalina promotions. I didn't get a Kmart ad with my paper today and it's not online yet. There is a one page ad intermixed with the Smartsource coupons.

Here's the deal--
Buy $35 worth of Procter & Gamble items, get a $10 catalina back to use NEXT week. Cannot turn right around & use it on another deal. I think I'll sit this one out, because:

They are doing superdoubles (doubling all coupons up to & including $2 of face value), but....only P&G coupons.
Minimum $25 purchase required to do superdoubles, and only first *5* coupons will double, after that all others are at face value.

So, you have to do $25 for superdoubles, but spend $35 for the $10 catalina, so essentially, you are paying for that $10 catalina. Works on sale prices, not shelf prices. And I can't find prices for anything posted anywhere. I've never, ever seen P&G do online printable coupons.

Even if I assume that the Pampers are on sale for $8.99 a pack-
4 packs to hit $35
4 $2 coupons doubled, minus $16
Pay $19, get $10 back
$9 for 4 packs of diapers.........eh. I guess I'm spoiled.

Online-the price for tampax 20 ct is $4.50. Five boxes is $22.50, get a $2.50 something that you need filler to hit $25. You can still use a coupon on that something else--maybe find Crest for around $2.50, use the $1 coupon.

Yay for Delaware for no sales tax too! I go to the Pike Creek store. They've been very coupon friendly lately. Just make sure you hand over your five coupons that you want doubled FIRST, then when those are scanned in, hand over the rest.

Genuardi's (Safeway) frozen food deal & other 5 day sale highlights

In my paper today (which is actually tomorrow's paper), I got the ad for the new 5-day sale at Genuardi's (part of Safeway chain).

The frozen food deal, looks promising, or it could be a bust--depends on if we can double dip on the deals.

Look for the frozen food coupon booklet they are advertising, there's a picture of it in the ad. According to this, it looks like it will be based on sale prices, not shelf prices. I haven't been to Genuardi's in a while, if someone is positive it will work on shelf prices, please chime in!

First, prior to the 5-day sale, this is what Genuardi's was advertising:

I have a toddler and a preschooler, so I'm enthused at the thought of cheap tater tots. $2 is pretty much my upper limit of what I will spend on a bigger bag of these, so I'd be ok with $1.15 if I can't use the booklet coupons.

Also in the booklet, is a $2 off any 3 Eggo products, 5.3oz+. I don't need Eggos, I'm still swimming in them from last summer's Giant deal. But they are on sale for 2 for $5. Six boxes would = $15. Minus two $2 coupons, plus $5 instant savings=$6 for six boxes of Eggos.

Stouffers and Lean Cuisine are $2 each and you get a free Edy's something (shake or smoothie) when you buy 5 of the meals. I don't know if that freebie item would count towards your $15 or not, can't hurt to try. The coupon booklet also has $1 off 3 coupons in it for these items.

Morningstar Farms is on sale for $3.69, there are almost always $0.75 off one tearpads at Acme, and they double. My older son likes the rice/veggie cakes, and it's a healthier option for his lunches. printable $1 off one

Also in the ad, they've highlighted what you can combine with e-savings and paper coupons, specifically for Procter & Gamble products. The Swiffer rags are a good price.

I am going to try to get there tomorrow and get some Ore Ida, will report back what works.

I know that yesterday I said I would get the matchups, but there was no ad. I didn't get one with my inserts, and when I look online, all I can find is this.

I know that there are mfr coupons out for the Charmin, the Scott, the Progresso and the Barilla pasta (depending on what's included). But unless DG includes a bigger, better WOW this week with some better printables, I don't see any great deals.

I posted it last week, but there is a 50% off "domestics" printable coupon. I would definitely check that out if you need stuff, plus the $1 mm on Gain. Those are still two very good reasons to go to DG this week.
